Security Compliance
There are now more CCTV cameras per person in the UK than in any other country in the world, the downside of this level of coverage is the certainty that during an average day CCTV will intrude on our lives. We can't expect the CCTV intrusion to go away, as an affective deterrent and tool to protect both our and the operators rights and livelihood there is not a more effective solution.
What we can expect and is now a point of law (the data protection act 1998 (DPA1998) is that these systems and the related data are managed professionally and abide to principles contained within the act.
The penalties for infringement are now severe and can be in the form of Fines from the DPA (data protection office) of up to £500,000 for serious failures, or failed prosecutions through inadmissible data.
What CCTV Controller have done is look at the obligations of the Data protection, identified best practice of the security industry and associations and applied this to our online managed compliance tools.
